Can a spouse be
your guarantor?

Yes, a partner or spouse can be your guarantor, however there are a few caveats here.

Your partner or spouse will need to have good credit as a guarantor, and they cannot be linked to you financially. This means that if you have joint accounts, such as credit cards, overdrafts, catalogues, or other loans together, they will be disqualified from being a guarantor.

Obviously if you are married and living together, you may have joint bills together, such as rent, and utility bills.

If your spouse is a homeowner, and has no financial ties with you, then they could be a perfect guarantor.

If you have any questions about who can and who cannot be your guarantor, you can always contact us using our online contact form, or ring us at 0800 802 1061.
